Dilwara Temples are located at a distance of 2 kms. from Rajasthan’s only Hill Station, Mount Abu. The beautiful Jain Dilwara temples built in between the 11th and 13th century AD are widely popular and special for their unique marble works. The five legendary temples of Dilwara are the sacred pilgrimage of Jains.
The simplicity in architecture reminds that Jainism as a religion encourages “honesty and frugality”. The temples are surrounded by mango trees and woody hills. Although the Jains built some beautiful temples at other places in Rajasthan but none ever came close to the beauty of Dilwara Temples.
The Dilwara temples constitute of five temples which are collectively named after the village where they are located:
-
Shri Adi Nath Ji Temple (Vimal Vasahi)
-
Shri Nemi Nath Ji Temple (Luna Vasahi)
-
Shri Rishabh Deo Ji Temple (Pithalhar)
-
Shri PArshav Nath Ji Temple (Khartar Vasahi)
-
Shri Mahaveer Swami Ji Temple (Mahaveer Swami)

Amongst these five shrines, four are architecturally significant and are made of white marble. Each temple has a walled courtyard, in centre of which an image of the deity Rishabhdev is placed. Around the courtyard, there are numerous small shrines each with an image of the Tirthankars.
